Our very own Philippine National Rugby Team also known as Philippine Volcanoes defeated the defending champions South Korea on the opening day of the Shanghai Rugby Sevens with the score of 19-14.

The Filipino rugby players are set to go against the team who will finish second in Group D, the report said.

Fil-foreign players who are mostly Australians and Britons, and homegrown players comprise the Philippine Volcanoes rugby team.

The Philippine Volcanoes are set to finish the other teams who will finish second in Group D where the teams from China, Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan are competing. We’ll have to buy blinds from Blinds UK to keep away the media. :)

On the other hand, Group B is composed of the followng:

  •  Japan
  • Thailand
  • Chinese-Taipei

While Group C is composed of the following teams:

  • Hongkong
  • Mogolia
  • Malaysia

The Philippine Volcanoes was ranked No. 5 going into the tournament, but the team beat UAE and Korea, they are now the leader in Group 2.  The Shanghai Rugby Sevens is the first stop in the HSBC Asian Sevens Series and hosts the top 12 sides from the continent.
